George R. R. Martin is the author of The Song of Ice and Fire series, also known as Game of Thrones in it's HBO tv mini-series incarnation. I expect some of you are familiar with it! If not, it's pretty gritty, but still entertaining, fantasy!
Interestingly, his wiki page notes a disapproval of fan fiction. I wonder what he'd think of being depicted as a Lego minifigure in a Harry Potter comic strip? Where the Lord of the Rings books are real?
