Muffliato is a silencing spell used for sneaking and such-like. It was initially described as filling the ears of the target with a buzzing noise, but in practice, more just seemed to muffle the actions of anyone using it. (As seen here).

We also have a couple references to technological/magical advancements here. Can you spot them? :)
