10/6/11:
I have a funny story regarding this boat. It's one of Lego's classic "boats that really float." As such, years back, I found it entertaining to let it do its floating in the rain gutter. I was doing this over and over, releasing it, running ahead of it, catching it, starting over. I failed to notice, however, that the rain was getting heavier and the gutter was starting to get a wee bit faster. Faster than my short legs of the time could overtake. I noticed suddenly that my prized Lego boat (with two Police Officer passengers) was starting to outrun me and I jumped to grab it and save them. I succeeded in grabbing the boat by the back end, but, Lego being Lego, the current grabbed the upper half and the pieces came off. The two poor passengers and half the craft floated away.

Shortly after, as the rain slowed a bit, my Dad and I searched downstream. We actually found most of the wreckage on the other side of the highway, just before the ditch joined the creek. The Police Detective was safe and whole. The Chief of Police, though, was never found.

I can only take solace in the fact that wherever he went... he went smiling all the way.
